Mountain Community Theater is proud to present Rumors, written by Neil Simon. Directed by MarNae Taylor, this production takes place at Ben Lomond’s historic Park Hall, 9400 Mill Street. Subscriber guest ticket purchases open August 17th, and tickets go on sale to the general public August 28th, 2026. Please join us for an Opening Night Reception immediately following the performance on September 18th. There will be a Community Night on September 19th, where all tickets are 2 for $30. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8:00 p.m. Sunday matinees are at 2:00 p.m. Advisory: this show is rated PG-13 due to adult language and themes.
Charley, the deputy mayor of New York, and his wife Myra Brock, on the evening of their tenth wedding anniversary, host an elegant dinner party which goes hysterically wrong. Four couples arrive expecting a night of sophistication—only to discover the host has had a terrible mishap and his wife is missing. Desperate to cover up the scandal, they spin wilder and wilder stories, turning confusion into chaos as rumors fly faster than champagne corks. With a nicotine fit, a whiplash, misguided jealousy, a recurring back spasm, comedy ensues. Brimming with razor-sharp wit, slapstick mishaps, and Simon’s trademark charm, Rumors is a laugh-out-loud comedy that proves the truth may be the funniest thing of all.
Our cast includes a mixture of MCT veterans as well as many newcomers to our organization: Sarah Marsh (Chris Gorman), Kyle Wood (Ken Gorman), Daria E. Troxell (Claire Ganz), Kip Allert (Lenny Ganz), David Leach (Ernie Cusack), Kate Cunningham (Cookie Cusack), Steven Macramalla (Glenn Cooper), Babe Payne (Cassie Cooper), Noah Bunting-Syren (Officer Welch), and James Stewart (Officer Pudney).
